Hi A Brummie Home and Abroad followers – I hope you’ve had a wonderful festive period! Thought I’d finish off the year by sharing my Top 10 Posts of 2019. I’ve split these into my 5 Most Popular Posts of 2019, and my 5 Most Popular New Posts of the year. It’s a good chance for you to catch up with a post you may have missed, or revisit an old favourite! As always, I love comments so please feel free to let me know what content you’ve enjoyed in 2019.
It seems a holiday in Malta was on a lot of minds in 2019 and this post suggests an ideal week-long itinerary!
You’re a cultured bunch, followers of A Brummie Home and Abroad. Which must be why my 3rd most popular blog post of 2019 is this guide to the Vienna State Opera. I answer all the questions that I googled before our 2017 visit…
Tenerife is much more than cocktails, sunbeds and karaoke bars. Although you can find plenty of those too. My 2nd most popular blog post of 2019 covers some of the wonderful places you can visit with a rental car in Tenerife. But just in case you don’t have a car, there’s info about travelling on public transport too!
For the second year running, my guide to some of the most beautiful but simple hikes in the Canadian Rockies has been my most popular blog post! Maybe I need to revisit soon to do a sequel?
My 5th Most Popular NEW post of 2019 was about one of my favourite days of the year! We hiked through beautiful Alpine meadows with the gentle tinkling of cow bells, surrounded by a valley of waterfalls. This was the day we spent hiking in Lauterbrunnen Valley.
My 4th Most Popular New Post of 2019 asked the vital question – Aisle or Window Seat? I put forward a case for both, but ultimately I’m a window seat person. Mr Fletche, on the other hand, is not. But guess who books the flights?… 😉
What end of year round-up would be complete without at least one hiking gone wrong tale? In this case, it’s our January trip to Northumberland, where we almost made it to Alnmouth. But not quite.
I’ve had the opportunity to watch some amazing theatre shows in 2019 thanks to an ongoing collaboration with Birmingham’s Alexandra Theatre, So it’s fitting that their showpiece event of the year, the annual Stage Experience, was my second most popular new blog post in 2019, and my most highly viewed theatre review!
I had a wonderful weekend in Liverpool and back in February, and enjoyed documenting the fab places we found to eat and drink. So I’m chuffed that you enjoyed this blog post as much as I enjoyed researching it!
Thank you to everyone that has read, liked, commented or shared my blog posts in 2019. There have been times when I’ve lacked the motivation to blog this year, and time when I’ve wondered if it’s even worth continuing. But then I remember that I’ve had a number of great collaborations this year, more people are finding my blog posts through Google ever before, and writing is what I love. So once again, thank you to those of you that continue to support A Brummie Home and Abroad.
Have a wonderful New Years Eve – whether you’re spending it at home or abroad – and wishing you every happiness for 2020!
