Well folks, it’s that time again. 2020 and COVID-19 continue to strike a blow to hospitality with another lockdown. For someone like me, that loves to a) eat and drink, and b) support local businesses, it’s time to get creative once more. As a huge fan of the Birmingham independent food and drink scene I will be checking out lockdown delivery and collection guides from Independent Birmingham and Bite Your Brum. But what about closer to home? Here’s a handy guide to local independents in Coleshill and the surrounding areas offering takeaway food and other treats throughout this November.
Please remember that travel should be limited to your local area under current government guidelines. So as tempting as some of these may be, please don’t travel unnecessarily if you’re outside the area. If you are collecting food, remember “hands, face, space” and keep everyone safe xxx

Got a sweet tooth? Love all things chewy, gooey or fizzy? Coleshill’s traditional sweetie shop Sweet Things has gone online! I definitely have my eye on the Bumper Bananas and Super Shrimps, a staple of my pic-n-mix bags when I were just a wee girl… You can find their online store here.
Craving a fish and chip supper somewhere in the heart of lockdown 1.0 we discovered we could click and collect from The Bubble Inn. And now they’ve announced a weekend collection and local delivery service from Friday 13th November. There will be burgers, pizzas and kebabs available, and even a Sunday roast option. You can pre-order by phone or by Facebook Messenger; find out more details on their Facebook page.
If you’re hankering after proper homecooked pub grub, then The Gate has you covered. Pre-orders only via Facebook or text 07456 438716, you can find up-to-date menus here.
A little bit further out, but worth the drive, Whitacre Hall’s tearooms will be open for takeout during lockdown. The country walks are the perfect place to stretch your legs (£1 admission per adult, 50p for kiddies), get a bit of fresh air and then indulge in a slice of cake or two. Which is precisely what we did last weekend. You can find out more here.
This is not an exhaustive list but if there’s a local independent offering a click and collect, delivery or takeaway service that deserves a shout out then please let me know in the comments!
Please note that this blog post is not sponsored – independent businesses need your support now more than ever. If you afford to support them, please do but just shouting out about their offering on social media or to your friends will make a huge difference to their chances of survival.
And of course, you can’t do a blog post about Coleshill without mentioning our plethora of curry houses. Most will be continuing their normal delivery service throughout lockdown so check in with your favourite!
